About Mississippi
Located in the deep south, Mississippi was first explored by the Spanish in the 16th century and eventually settled by the French and the British in the 18th century.

The state has been rebuilding the gulf coast area since the devastation hit in an attempt to repair the thousands of homes and businesses that were part of the wreckage.
The state of Mississippi has a lower than average crime rate compared to the rest of the nation.
Currently, they are ranked number 28 on the USA.com crime rate index.
They have lower rates of violent crimes and motor vehicle theft and a slightly higher rate of property crime. As for hate crimes, Mississippi has one of the lowest rates in the nation at 6 per 100,000 residents (national average is 27).
